Herrick H. Smith is native to Saint Augustine, Florida, and holds a BA in Economics from the University of North Florida and apprenticed at Spinning Earth Pottery with Danny Meisinger. In 2017 he graduated from Fort Hays State University with an MFA in Ceramics. Herrick is a husband, father, potter, and Art Educator focused on local clays and atmospheric firing. The completion of the St. Augagama kiln in 2024 was the realization an 8 year dream and is fired several times per year. When not in the studio he loves the outdoors with his family.
