Denny Gerwin is the Assistant Professor of Art at Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. He received his BFA from Bowling Green State University and MFA from Utah State University.
Gerwin is a product of Utah State University and identifies as a second generation American wood firer. He was initially inspired by John Balistreri as an undergraduate student, then worked with John Neely to see his reactions to Japanese wood fire, and was also influenced by Dan Murphy, a former student of Chuck Hindes. Denny also worked for traditional South Korean Artist, Oh Hyang Jong, where he built a western-style Train Kiln in Hwasun in 2007.
