Candice Hensley

NC Mountains Pre-Conference Artist

Schedule/Registration

Joey Sheehan/ the Golden Antelope

My studio is in Asheville, North Carolina. I make porcelain pots both fired in my

high fire gas reduction kiln and in wood kilns throughout western North Carolina,

with plans to build a wood kiln at my home. My work centers around two of my most

passionate loves: food and flowers. I strive to make classic, elegant shapes that

serve to elevate their everyday uses.

Candice grew up in the middle of nowhere, Kentucky and studied art at Centre College where she first touched clay. After earning her degree, she worked for a large production pottery in East Tennessee where she was fortunate to make a lot of mistakes, and learn even more. She set up her own studio in Asheville, North Carolina in 2010 and has steadily grown her ceramic practice and fallen in love with the sometimes cruel, but equally rewarding mistress that is wood firing.
